five guys, a predator

It was James' first birthday in the US (and his ninth overall) so we spent the morning in the Air and Space Museum at the Pithsonium as it is known in these quarters - an experience both epic and informative, with everything from Sputnik to a Predator Drone, which in the flesh is a truly chilling piece of hardware. We somehow managed to skip the Wright Bros, but did invest in a visit to the in-house planetarium, and witnessed the collisions of various heavenly bodies, voiced over by a Mr Robert Redford, who brought an appropriate, ahem, gravity to the spectacle. After that, a walk uptown (downtown? Past Chinatown anyway) to a Five Guys burger franchise in H Street, which by Washington standards is a suitably evocative appelation. These are well known and have won all sorts of awards, including GQ's best five dollar burger in 2009. Big, messy, tasty, and with, as you have no doubt spotted, an embarrassment of fries. Fortunately we ordered just the one portion...
