dogtown and j-man

It being Saturday, and the week having been unusually exciting (spiking infant temperatures, intercontinental relocation, a state of ongoing and very expensive homelessness, that sort of thing) we rewarded ourselves with a Metro-free day and footed it to some of the local attractions. In the case of Gina, this was the Wholefoods five blocks down, for James it was the local skatepark and for Siena, by happy chance, the third birthday party of the Shaw Dog Park, a gravelled strip where as far as we could tell nobody, not even the dogs, are allowed anywhere near the trees. J took to the skatepark with unstudied insouciance, despite the fact that it was peopled with the sort of folk of whom anyone would be trepid, if that's a word, although oddly ungraffiti'd. The park, not the people, obviously. He cruised happily in his technicoloour DC's for a bit, landed some repectable ollies then we all went off to pay our repects to the dog park next door, where Siena got jumped by some species of pug and deeply upset by a dogfight which broke out later. Gina joined us with the takings from Wholefoods and we enjoyed a lunch of tofu, corned beef (they cancelled each other out) artichokes and pretzels on a sandy soccer field.
